The time has finally come to start the process of putting the garden to rest…
The last two months have presented some unique challenges from pest pressure to a lack or rain, and general burnout as we try to get every task done. This time of year is incredibly busy since seed picking in the prairie tends to take priority.
Unfortunately, Derek also cut his finger pretty badly right before our big cider pressing project got underway so we’ve had to rely on each other more than usual to get tasks done around the farm.
Luckily, the end is in sight and we are feeling particularly inspired by all of the great memories and progress we made this year!
This Saturday we will be at the Spring Grove Farmers Market networking and sharing our products with some new customers!

The Year Ahead
This year has been one of tremendous growth and brought a lot of clarity and focus for the future. We are committed more than ever to supplying fresh, organic produce to the people we love, and fighting the broken food system in this country. We believe growing is an act of resistance and we hope to empower people by giving them a deeper connection to their food and the land.
Next year, we will not be offering a produce subscription but will be sharing news and updates from the farm regularly. Our hope is to have a surplus of items as we test out new techniques and recipes, pest control methods, and work on soil building over the growing season. In the coming years we hope to transition to being able to offer more farm-made goods that are ready to use in the kitchen, as well as offer experiences, as opposed to just supplying our customers with vegetables and herbs.
Flowers will be in full swing on the farm so we are currently planning to still offer opportunities for people to purchase our blooms as well as seeds and tubers. More details to follow regarding subscription options as we plan for the 2025 year but we may also throw some markets in the mix.
Frost claimed the dahlia patch this week, and as sad as it is to say goodbye, it also leaves more room to dream and plan for the future!

We will be lifting these in the coming weeks, storing them for the winter, and dividing in early spring. We were able to get the majority of the plants labeled before the freeze. Each plant will have produced a clump of tubers so there will be hundreds, and we simply cannot grow them all! We plan to offer tubers to those who are interested and would love them to go to a good home.
